Burna Boy And Angélique Kidjo Partner Up Once Again to Bag Another Grammy Nomination

Burna Boy first joined the Grammy nominee train with his critically acclaimed masterpiece album ‘African Giant’, nominated for the Best World Music category in 2020. He lost the race to Beninese singer, Angélique Kidjo. Knowing how powerful and successful Burna Boy’s ‘African Giant’ album was, fans, celebrities and even Angelique  herself celebrated the singer despite his loss.

Burna Boy didn’t stop there; he received another nomination the following year for his album ‘Twice As Tall’ in the Best Global Music Album category. That time, he brought home the gold as ‘Twice as Tall’ gave Burna his second Grammy nomination and first win.

Throughout the course of his career, Burna Boy has received several awards and nominations both local and international. He has been nominated four times for a Net Honours award, he won the 2020 BET Awards for Best International Act, amongst a long list of others. This recent Grammy nomination brings his nomination count to 47 and his award wins to an impressive 23.

Angelique Kidjo  on the other hand, seems to be a Recording Academy’s favourite candidate, seeing how often she frequents the Grammy nominations list. She once again bagged three Grammy nominations in different categories. One in Best Global Music Album for ‘Mother Nature’ and two nominations in Best Global Music Performance, one of which she shares with Burna Boy.

With a career spanning over four decades, it comes as no surprise, and it is a testament to the power and talent she wields. The four-time Grammy award-winning and eight times nominee record title is proof of the unstoppable force that is Angelique Kidjo.

With a track record like Burna Boy’s and Angélique’s, it seemed only fair for the two to partner up and deliver a masterful track that again made the Grammy Best Global Music Performance category for a song titled ‘Do Yourself’.

What did they say about two heads? Hopefully, the duo will bring home the award for their collaborative effort.
